Financial Resolution
The financial implications of divorce and separation are serious. They not only affect your standard of living but also have an emotional impact on both parties and your children.
As a general rule finances need to be dealt with as openly and as early as possible, to avoid any conflicts later down the line. Under no circumstances should you sign any documents relating to finances without first taking legal advice. If you receive any correspondence direct from your spouse’s or civil partner's lawyer or other official body consult us immediately.
Court proceedings
Dealing with financial issues can take a long time to resolve. If negotiations are getting nowhere, we can apply to the Court.
The involvement of the Court ensures a timetable is put into place for the exchange of financial information. Generally speaking, there are three Court hearings but proceedings can be settled by agreement at any stage.
Once your financial affairs have been finalised, we will be able to introduce you to other experts at Mogers who can help you address your future security, for example, by updating your will or investing your assets for the future.
